Chapter 5 RADview-HPOV for ATM RADview-HPOV/ATM User’s Manual
5-8 VPI/VCI Range for ACE-2002/2002E/202
5.8 VPI/VCI Range for ACE-2002/2002E/202
The range of the VPI and VCI bits respectively is determined per port by the
variables:
VPI Bits atmInterfaceMaxActiveVpiBits
VCI Bits atmInterfaceMaxActiveVciBits
VCI is 16 bits, i.e. the entire VCI range is supported (2
16
-1).
VPI is 8/12 (UNI or NNI) all VPI values are supported according to the UNI/NNI
setting (2
8
-1 or 2
12
-1). NNI might be 10/12 according to IMA cards. This parameter
is configured in the ATM Parameters dialog box.
In all controls (These are mostly edit-boxes) where the user can insert a VPI or a
VCI value, the NMS limits the user’s input to the following range:
VPI 0...(2**(atmInterfaceCurrentMaxActiveVpiBits) - 1) = 0...255/0...4095.
VCI 0...(2**(atmInterfaceCurrentMaxActiveVciBits) - 1) = 1...65535.
• VPI = any value.
• VCI = 0/3/4 – can't be opened by the user (0,3 is used for OAM).
• In some cases VCI=16 is also forbidden.
• RAD recommends using VCI > 32.
