RADview-HPOV/ATM User’s Manual Chapter 5 RADview-HPOV for ATM
VPI/VCI Range for ACE-101 5-7
5.7 VPI/VCI Range for ACE-101
The Virtual Path/Virtual Channel Indicator (VPI/VCI) range determines the number
of bits used in the VP/VC indicator.
The VP/VC range determines the number of VPCs or VCCs available.
VPI 0-15 are allocated for VCCs and other VPIs are allocated for VPCs.
The range of the VPI and VCI bits respectively is determined by the variables:
VPI Bits: atmInterfaceMaxActiveVpiBits (5, 6, 7, 8)
if atmConfAtmIfVpiVciLimit = bits 15(2):
VCI Bits atmInterfaceMaxActiveVciBits (7, 8, 9, 10)
if atmConfAtmIfVpiVciLimit = bits 17(3)
VCI Bits atmInterfaceMaxActiveVciBits (9, 10, 11, 12)

When the user sets the VPI bit and VCI bit values, the VP and VC ranges in all the
dialog boxes are affected as follows:
VPI 0…(2**(atmInterfaceMaxActiveVpiBits) - 1)
VCI 0…(2**(atmInterfaceMaxActiveVciBits) - 1)
